Foothills and River Mountain

Public schooling in Henderson is managed by Clark County School District. The district has more than 300 campuses serving almost 300,000 students. Private schools are nearby.

The city has an extensive network of parks and public recreation sites. Several of these are in Henderson, providing Foothills and River Mountain residents with quick access to ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and facilities for swimming and horseback riding. Some of the popular sites are Black Mountain Recreation Center and Pool, Equestrian Park, Morrell Park and River Mountain Park.

Another notable recreation venue is the River Mountain Trail Loop, which is currently in development. As of mid-2007, the trail is 10 miles long, running across the eastern side of River Mountain and the Foothills. Plans are to extend the trail to loop around the River Mountains, linking the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam and Henderson. This route will be roughly 35 miles long, winding through the diverse landscape of deserts, mountains and waterways.

Golf is a huge part of the Henderson lifestyle, and the city has more than 10 courses to prove it. The course selection includes public, private and semi-private facilities, with nearly all of them offering challenging, scenic environments. The more exclusive clubs are within master-planned communities like Anthem, MacDonald Highlands and Lake Las Vegas. Public clubs include the Revere at Anthem, Tuscany Golf Club and Wild Horse Golf Club.
